Successful Traits An Entrepreneur Has To Have To Win

What Traits Of An Entrepreneur Should You Emulate?Entrepreneurs

I was listening last night to a webinar and the speaker was talking about the traits of an entrepreneur and among the initial ones he came up with was that you needed to be a bit crazy. That is one that I usually tend to agree with. To possess the will to be a true entrepreneur, you have to be prepared to accept a certain amount of risk and do what ever it takes to succeed.

You also have to think about the world in a positive way, regardless how difficult things get and occasionally you need to not know when to quit. This is the reason I believe he feels like you should be a little bit crazy, because most people have a certain tolerance point for pain and then they are ready to give up. Being an entrepreneur, you need to have such strong focus on the reward that it blocks out all other thoughts. Including thoughts of doubt, failure and frustration.

So, while I'd use a different word. I'd accept his remark that you have to become a little crazy to want to be an entrepreneur.

To Be successful Calls for More Then Just Drive

While drive is an incredible characteristic, it has to be coupled with focus along with a motivation to learn and be educated. Unless you are the one individual on the planet that knows everything about everything, there's a lot to understand to achieve success in any business. A true attribute of an entrepreneur is accepting that there are a lot of wise people around with a lot to offer. Becoming a true student of success, an individual has to spend part of every day attempting to learn something new.

I'm unsure who coined the expression, but I've heard it frequently through out my adult life, "leaders are readers". With all the options out there, that may include webinar watchers and MP3 listeners as well. But learning from those who have come before you and have made many of the mistakes you want to avoid is an important trait of an entrepreneur.

Working On Your Business Instead Of Inside It

If you have not read the Emyth Revisited, I strongly recommend you do that. This is among the most important traits you'll be able to pick up as an entrepreneur. It appears that {nearly all entrepreneurs tend to want to undertake everything themselves. I can confirm that, as a serial entrepreneur, I always assume I can do things best. My view and that view usually is usually a recipe for failure.

To be a master of your business destiny, you will need to grasp your company from the top down and know how to develop tools to ensure that others can focus on the day to day operations, so that you can drive the course and strategy of the business. Put in a different way, it is a lot more fun to drive your car then fix a flat.

The traits of an entrepreneur are many. But the most important ones are to be in command of your enterprise and not get lost in it. Be a little crazy now and then and always focus on the top of the mountain, not the ruts along the way.
